Her First Marriage
A year after signing a record deal with Mercury Records in the middle of 1975, Reba McEntire debuted in the music industry with her very first single with the title “I Don’t Want to Be a One Night Stand”. It was not as successful as she wanted it to be as it only landed on the 88th spot on the Billboard charts. Another important event that happened in the same year was her marriage with her first husband, Charlie Battles. A few songs came after that, but all of them did not become a huge hit as well. In 1979, just when she was about to start losing hope, her cover of Patsy Cline’s “Sweet Dreams” became very successful and popular as it landed on the 19th spot on the charts. That was just the beginning of her journey in the music industry.

First Time At The Grand Ole Opry
One of the most embarrassing experiences she ever had her entire life happened in 1977 when she got the opportunity to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. For the people who do not know anything about Grand Ole Opry, it is the biggest home for country music – that was why Reba McEntire was very thrilled to go. However, during the day of her performance, she faced a couple of problems. First, the guard in the event did not let her in as her name was not included in the list. She was only able to come in when one of the officials recognized her. The other problem that she faced was when she was already inside the establishment, a staff informed her that she would not be performing anymore because her slot was replaced by Dolly Parton. She was very disappointed – who wouldn’t be?
