Wanted To Be Like Her Mother
Seeing how her mother served as a teacher in their community, Reba wanted to be a school teacher just like her. That was why she took Education as her course at the public university in Durant, Southern Oklahoma State University. Well, she still did not forget about her passion for singing, so she minored in Music. Whenever she had free time, she would engage herself in activities related to music such as performing at small events. During that time, she already knew to herself that she would be a good teacher in the future just like her mother, but she was quite wrong about that.

Life-Changing Rodeo Performances
One normal day in 1974, Reba had to attend a rodeo event, the National Rodeo, that was held in Oklahoma City because she was hired to sing the national anthem for the event. I do not know if Reba being a music star was already written on the stars, but Red Steagall, a well-known musician, was there. He was amazed by the lady’s voice, so he immediately approached her after her performance to talk about her potential in being a music star. Weeks after that, Reba agreed to record her very first demo tape. Red was one of the people who really helped her establish her career in the music industry.
