The Last Straw
He would tend to his garden with as much love and care as he could, but something was going to rudely jolt David, a usually mild-mannered man, to his tether’s end. Every weekend, David lovingly trimmed and shaped the cypress trees that are decades old and bordered the fence surrounding his property. After having a heavy week of enforcing the law, he calmed his mind by doing this mechanical activity.

However, it did not take a long for some audacious neighbors to completely ruin this hobby for him. David and his neighbors were all distantly related, more or less, but they had been in a bitter battle for many years by this point. In fact, this feud went back generations. David had been more than accommodating, though this was certainly the very last straw. He finally had enough. The ongoing drama was centered around a single gravel road that surrounded David’s property on either side.
