An explanation
“John, I’m sorry to tell you this, but these kittens are not ordinary, and I’m afraid you won’t be able to keep them,” the vet declared gravely. “I’ll make a phone call right away, and someone will come and pick them up immediately. They absolutely cannot stay in your barn, you have to listen to me.” John, bewildered by the seriousness of his voice and his worried expression, still didn’t understand what was going on, but he sensed that the situation was far more serious than he had imagined.
An explanation
John was protective
“Mr. Nichols, I thank you for your advice, but I can’t let you take them. We’ve been looking after them for some time now, they’re part of our family!” protested John firmly. Dr Nichols let out a nervous laugh before replying gravely: “John, listen to me… you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s far too dangerous!” But despite the warning, John remained determined not to abandon them.
