In her mid-twenties, Katie Smith was just an ordinary young woman. Well, that’s if you think this story is normal. When something unforeseen in her stomach started growing, Mrs. Smith was just 24 years old. The health professionals were baffled and were unable to figure out what it was.
Katie’s stomach began to grow and, therefore, rapidly blew up that she seemed pregnant! The weird part was that she wasn’t pregnant at all! She took a pregnancy test after the pregnancy test, all of which have been negative, but doctors dismissed her concerns.
Smith was also from Swansea in Wales and started noticing an odd excess weight. In a few years, she had progressed from normal to somebody who looked like they were pregnant on a full-term basis. Smith told the BBC that she was never a thin woman, but she slowly developed this giant belly.
Katie truly pursued a balanced living and was aware of her figure, as most young women at that age are. She was a devoted gym-goer, her curvy figure embracing her. This is the explanation that gaining weight was not only annoying but baffling. That mystery continued.
Not As It Seems
Because her figure was so flawed, Katie felt very uncomfortable as well as self-conscious, and she did not even want to work at a Christmas party. Katie began to feel she was fat and that her attire was absolutely unappealing, as any lady would feel uneasy in her circumstance.
Too Fast To Keep Up With
Katie did everything, but that wouldn’t hold back her stomach growing. She said, “I’ve been exercising and eating healthily, but I’ve been getting bigger slowly.” There was nothing more maddening than a healthy lifestyle and still gaining weight very fast.
What Was Going On?
Katie went on and said, “It crept up so slowly [that] I didn’t know anything was wrong – I thought I was putting on timber.” Katie put quantities of mass weight on her, and yet she still had no clue why.
Not Just Growing
The time has finally come when Katie could no longer ignore this extra weight gain. It had become completely obvious that all the weight she put on was directly transferred to her belly region. The weight felt odd. How’s she going to move forward?
When touched, Katie’s stomach felt hard, as though it were irritated. However, she was content and absolutely convinced that the circumstance would progress and hopefully discontinue time. She had dared to hope, despite this, that this scenario would work out.
There’s Only One Explanation
She had grown out of her clothes nowadays and donned eight clothes in her size. She was so afraid of seeking medical treatment that she didn’t. Her dad was a physician, leading her to question how to cope with the problem.
Her Gut Feeling
Katie never realized there was a lot more stuff ahead of her. What she wanted or wanted to accept was not just one conclusion she had come to. However, this was potentially what her scenario had come to. What could be the one thing that made her do this?
She assessed her health issues and all the features that accompanied her body, and one explanation was provided… About pregnancy. She was extremely exhausted, expanding her stomach area, and she was in a serious relationship as well.
She was sure that means she had a bun in the oven as she repeatedly analyzed all the elements! Both Katie and her boyfriend were somewhat anxious. Whether she was actually pregnant was certainly unplanned, and that it was not on her agenda right now.
Soon To Be Parents
Jamie Gibbons was Katie’s boyfriend, and the pair did think she had a chance to have a little human being inside her. While they were not preparing for it, it was obvious they had to have it checked out.
The Blue Stripe
After taking a pregnancy test, the pair was a bit bewildered, so it tested negative. The two thought that the test was completely inaccurate and went immediately for round two. The test was negative, with the same result.
Getting Really Worried
The couple decided that it was time for the doctor to visit. What might happen here? Could Katie be unwell? Did she endure a miscarriage? Their minds were battling, and they were both simply frightened!
Facing Her Fears
Given the options, she had very little left to do, so she had to see a physician. Sadly, Katie was not given the news she wanted. The doctor explained that she was “merely fat.” Katie’s spirits were down; at the rate things were happening, she saw no escape.
Following Her Instincts
Her fears and concerns had been blatantly dismissed by the doctor, but Katie knew there was something wrong. Even though she had seen a physician and this did not affect her daily routine, she decided to ignore it.
Katie thought so much about it that she didn’t quite understand why she wasn’t pregnant. It looked and felt like it really was; what was up? She began to doubt the physician, but trusted his conclusion. She really had no choice, even though they’re not experts.
If Katie really were pregnant, then the issue would fade away when the baby was born. However, her belly continued to expand for two full years. Every month it got bigger and bigger until one day at work something horrible happened.
She Didn’t Feel Well
It was Katie’s typical working day until she started to feel ill, light-headed, nauseous, as well as spacey. She was collapsing. As Katie regained consciousness, her work colleagues notified her that she had lost consciousness.
A Difficult Period
Katie knew that she had to immediately see a doctor. Katie said, “It was a tough period in work, and when I passed out, my GP put it down to stress.” There was also another reasoning, and she had to proceed just as she lived before this ordeal.
All From Stress?
Is it normal to faint from stress or even possible? Katie didn’t even think that was why. She was convinced by her doctor that nothing significant was happening and she was definitely not pregnant.
Not What It Appears
Everywhere she went, folks have always been questioning her about her “pregnancy” Her growing stomach was noticed by people, and she could not even try to hide it. Over and over, she explained the problem.
No End In Sight
“The doctors say I am just overweight, ” Katie proceeded, having to tell all those who questioned her every day. Soon, the situation frustrated her and she saw no solution and no resolution ahead of her.
Katie said she’d been continuously stopped and questioned when she began to give in to spare them and herself the humiliation when the baby was coming. Soon, she finally told them that she was overweight, but she began to believe that she was actually what she was.
Katie was walking around town with a fat stomach and had started to feel both ashamed and self conscious. She started shopping in the maternity section of stores, but because her deceptive baby bump was still growing, she was discouraged from buying anything.
Katie said, “I remember trying to shop for clothes in December 2016, and nothing would fit. I was skin and bone on top, then this massive lump and normal legs. The only thing that was going to fit was maternity wear.”
Katie was hard headed enough to see a physician. Breathing problems had managed to prevent her from leading a normal life after so many fainting spells, and she needed even more help and support than she previously had.
Unless her colleagues were so adamant about it, she would never have really left. People were wondering how Katie let herself go and why she didn’t care for herself generally. Something was definitely wrong; shouldn’t she be there right now?
A New Explanation
She tried, but to no avail, to prevent it. But when it was only enough to have her pass out for the fourth time, it became unbearable. The doctor said that it was her acne medication this time around. Katie didn’t take for herself that reasoning, and she knew he was wrong.
Time To Stand Up
It’s as though her case or her symptoms were not taken seriously by the doctors. As time went on, they carried on blaming anything and everything they could in her life. Katie wanted responses, not hypotheses; she wanted real responses.
Enough Was Enough
Katie had decided to stop taking her acne medication months earlier and she did not settle for this diagnosis. For a second opinion, she went to the doctor and said she must be pregnant. He did a blood test after the blood test, and no conclusive results were obtained.
Getting To The Bottom Of It
Katie’s general practitioner even said that, regardless of the blood test results, she had to be pregnant. Another ultrasound was requested, and it really had become challenging for Katie to walk, so let’s not forget her breathing difficulties.
The Truth At Last
A pregnancy test was requested as directed by the next physician. Would she finally, at long last, get a real diagnosis? Hopefully, soon enough, but we can see a different dynamic to the case for the time being.
Katie watched the doctor carefully as she carried out an ultrasound. It became clear that something was not correct, not at all, when she saw her expression. The eyes of the doctor grew, and her facial expression dimmed, and the doctor seemed to be petrified.
An expert advice was requested by the doctor, and Katie was extremely concerned. Jamie tried to calm her down and ease her fear, but she got overwhelmed and began to panic swiftly. What was in her stomach, what had been growing?
The screen, the ultrasound screen that it is, was completely blank. That Katie wasn’t pregnant was confirmed. They didn’t know what it was, but they knew it was life-threatening, and that there was something wrong.
Even though they urgently demanded a CT to get to the bottom of this, there were endless possibilities. Katie was scared, anxious, nervous, and really had no clue what might follow. Her mind was racing as she waited to discover what was wrong.
Since the ultrasound was completely blank, the CT that was requested showed something utterly crazy! Doctors tried to calm Katie down and prepare her for what they were going to reveal and clarify. Both her and her boyfriend were waiting… And in suspense.
Definitely Not Pregnant
Katie was not pregnant, of course. Her swollen abdomen was due to an ovarian mass that had developed. Katie’s world came to an abrupt halt a moment later, as the doctor was unable to determine what sparked her sudden illness.
To The Skin
It wasn’t your ordinary cyst, and it was affixed to her stomach, which was 24 centimeters thick, too. This clarified, ultimately, the gain in weight. Her life, however, was in danger, and the weight had to be removed as quickly as possible.
What Exactly Is An Ovarian Cyst?
A cyst is a fluid-filled sac on a woman’s ovary which can grow. They usually do not cause any extra problems or damage; they usually dissolve on their own. For Katie, that wasn’t the situation.
Since they can obstruct the blood supply to the ovaries or develop to an abnormal size just like this, when they rupture, cysts meddle with the lives of people. Truthfully, Katie’s had grown to a higher level; it was completely massive.
Exploring Her Options
A month passed and Katie was trying to discuss her alternatives with a specialist in order to move forward. She says she can still envision the look on the face of the consultant when she saw her belly; he was totally stunned.
He had given her a nice and very gentle explanation of the ovarian mass, but his face said it all. He was in utter awe. It was not expected to be so big by anyone, and even the expert could not believe how big the cyst was.
That’s Not All
One other possibility was that there were multiple cysts and that they could be attached to other organs inside her abdomen. Katie was petrified, and she knew that surgery was the only option.
The students were completely ignorant of any further negative impacts on Katie’s body from the cyst they had. She most certainly encountered side effects, those that were unrelated to being pregnant.
The doctor was uncertain of the specifics of the cyst, but made the decision it was necessary to be doing something. The doctor was also flabbergasted that the other physicians not only had turned her away but advised her she was fine without further assessment.
One Thing For Certain
What the doctor knew for sure was that Katie was going to lose her ovaries! She was also told that her hospital stay might need to be longer than she expected-it depended on where the cyst was exactly. She felt as if she was giving her life away.
