After hours of painstaking examination, Dr. Grant and his team withdrew to a corner of the barn transformed into a makeshift laboratory, leaving John and Fiona in feverish anticipation. The experts exchanged discreet glances, took notes in hushed tones and analyzed their observations with an almost solemn concentration. Repeatedly, John tried to elicit answers, but each attempt was met with cautious silence and impassive faces. This reserve only deepened the mystery that now shrouded their kittens.
