Who does not wish for the day that they can finally acquire the house of their dreams? The hero of our story was able to do that, but he sure got more than he ever bargained for. As he started to look around his new property, a man called Christopher literally stumbled into something he never quite expected.

House of His Dreams

He was intrigued as he started to explore the tunnel. At the time, he had no idea that he could not just back out of this. He started to keep going even when he was told by the realtor and cops not to do so.

Investigating

When he was done exploring and had a lot of evidence with him, Christopher knew that the best course of action was to leave and never return. But what was it that this man found on his new property?

Wandering The Woodland

Christopher Wanliss bought a new house recently. The property rested on 16.5 hectares of woodland. Who would not be excited to explore a space that you can call your own? However, he had no idea that there was something waiting for him in the fields of his new land.

A Tour Of His Land

At any rate, it would seem like fate had this in store for the poor man. He decided to take a tour of the new property and the area that surrounded it. The seasons weren’t gentle and had stripped away the layers of trees in that area. To him, it only made the place look that much more enchanting.

Autopilot

Christopher liked every single thing that the area had. Or so he thought. There was more to it than the silence of the forest and the chirping of the birds. As he started to wander the fields, his mind and body dove into autopilot mode. Without warning, something caught his attention.

Was It A Tree?

Christopher had been in some kind of haze when he went to the direction of whatever it was that captured his interest. Almost hidden, it was a dark and small object. Was it simply another tree? Maybe it was simply smaller, older, and darker than the others there.

The Mysterious Structure

Even though that was what he first had in mind, he could tell that he was on the wrong track as he approached it. He felt both terror and excitement as he checked it out some more. That was how he fell into a ditch that was 3 foot high!

Abandoned And Old

He was shocked by the fall since it had been covered by leaves and dirt. He shook himself off and took a look at what was right in front of him. He was perplexed by what he saw. Could it be that he just found a mine on the property? It seemed old and abandoned from its appearance. He had a compulsion to explore what the intriguing structure held.

However, it did not even occur to him that this would be a terrible mistake. At any rate, he was at the entrance once more. This time, he had his flashlight with him. He had been holding his breath as he inspected the sparkling stuff on the walls. What could these things possibly be?

Echoing Footsteps

The walls seemed damp and felt like they were about to give in any minute now. The footsteps he made echoed through the structure. He could not help but wonder about the soil that was pressing down on it. Christopher wanted to stay there for a little while, which was why he brought three spare batteries.

Sparkling Material

He came towards the walls and brushed the sparkling material of the walls with his hand. Christopher recalled wondering, “What if this was gold?” Soon enough, however, this would be the last thing on his mind. Perhaps the most worrying part was when he began to hear voices. Christopher was unable to decipher what they were saying, but he shouted, “Who’s there?” His echo was the only response that he received. Filled with more courage now, he wanted to see who was down there with him.

He was now surrounded by water and dirt. His boots dug in deeper with each step that he took. Among other things, he found a ventilation system that looked like it was crumbling. He also saw chains hanging near one another, but they all seemed rusty and moldy.

“The ambient temperature also seemed to suddenly drop all around me at this point, and I felt an even stronger negative presence ahead in the tunnel,” Christopher recounted. It was about 150 feet deep when he turned around. He saw light pouring in near the mine entrance!

He was shocked by what he saw the moment he turned around. He stayed rooted in that spot for 2 seconds when his body reacted at last. He jumped, grabbed onto the walls, and got more claustrophobic. One of the chains hanging from the roof was starting to swing!

What was so curious about it was that it was not just light swinging. No, it was moving with force! This meant that someone was there keeping an eye on him. His heart was beating very quickly as he made his way to the entrance. He had to get out of there and talk to someone about it.

He was scared and sweaty as he traced his route back home. He whipped out his phone and called the real estate agent. He then started to describe what he saw in the mine and talked about the sparkly stuff that illuminated the small but deep tunnel. The realtor informed him that someone would check it out.

Mining Hills

“When we went to ask about the place, we were finally told that the estate had actually been home to quite a lot of mining sites. A lot of mining was done in these hills at the turn of the century, and there are a lot of little mines that are scattered across the hills,” he recalled. Even though he felt comforted by the call, he tensed up all of a sudden once more. “This cannot be happening!” Christopher said.

Dropping Temperatures and Flickering Lights

Christopher had been in the kitchen when he made the phone call. He was surprised to see the lights start to flicker. Panic was blooming in his chest, but he tried to stay in control of it. The lights continued to flicker on and off until it all went dark.

To The Thermostat

He went to where the switch was located in the room and then tried to flick it on and off. It did not do anything. What was scarier was that he started to feel a chill that came out of nowhere. The breeze even hit him on the face. Luckily, he was still composed enough to take out the flashlight from his pocket. He flicked it on and shone some light on the thermostat.

Quite The Temperature Drop

The thermostat displayed that the temperature dropped down a bit. His breath was even making a cloud in front of his face. He pondered, “How strange.” Christopher decided that he was going to check the circuit breaker because he wanted the power back. Maybe the fuse was just broken.

Technical Problems

He pointed the light at the breaker, but he could not see anything wrong with it. As far as he could see, everything was in working order. He tried to look at the box some more and tried flipping things on and then off. This ended up doing the trick! Christopher felt relieved that it was nothing.

The Doorbell Rang

“Faulty wiring,” he thought even though he was a bit nervous. He returned upstairs to get a glass of water. It was important for him to calm down a bit. As soon as he got there, the doorbell started to ring!

Christopher met a man called Mr. Rudall at the door. Apparently, he was sent by the realtor agency to take a look at the mine! He was interested to see the discovery on the property. On top of that, he also wanted to figure out what the substance on the wall was.

The Calm Before The Storm

Christopher took him to the entrance of the mine. He reminded Mr. Rudall to be cautious to avoid getting hurt down there. As they made their way across the land, the sky was starting to grey. It looked like it was going to rain very hard.

Troubling Words

The two men brought out their flashlights upon reaching the mine. They saw the sparkling stuff on the wall, which seemed even more brilliant this time. The glare was hitting them square in the face! Rudall took a closer look at the wall and was visibly excited. He then turned to Christopher and let the owner of the property know something troubling. What exactly did this man have to say about it?

Rudall then told Christopher that this must have been a gold mine from a long time ago. He stared at the walls and could tell that the gold had stayed untouched. This would mean that the miners did not, for some reason, finish the job and simply abandoned it. But why would they do such a thing anyway?

Rudall then informed him about all the rumors about mines at the turn of the century. However, this was the first gold mine he has ever found in his life. But what was the reason the miners would abandon a mine full of gold? Even though he knew that the answer must be bad, Christopher wanted answers.

Knock Knock

He mustered all the courage he had to take a closer look at the mine. Two things were stuck on his mind. First, he might harvest plenty of gold. Second, it might be haunted. After getting ready for this excursion, he went in with the flashlight and spare batteries. The darkness enveloped him upon entry.

The Source Of The Water

During his first attempt, Christopher only went as deep as 150 feet. He was aware that he had to keep going regardless of what he found down there. It was the one way he could get the answers that he wanted so badly. Around 600 feet into this tunnel, he found a door. It was where the water came from!

Shivers

A shiver went through his body. It did not help that the water fell onto his face and made it hard to see. After sucking in a breath, he used his fist to knock on the door. He did not get an answer, but it was not like he was expecting one. After opening the door, he got the shock of a lifetime!

A Different World Altogether

It felt like he just entered a whole new world. Again, the room was practically freezing even though the weather was nice outside. The walls inside felt rougher and colder than the ones outside. He was starting to feel scared, and his gut was telling him to leave right now. However, he saw something else.

Something Was Going On

There were a bunch of decrepit objects lying in a huddle. It did not make sense to Christopher. Why would anybody put their things down there? Suddenly, the air felt very thick. A big pressure was also building up in his chest. Something weird was happening here, but he had no idea what it could be.

Living Down There

When he checked out the pile, he found a bedspring. This torn and rusty piece of machinery gave him all the answers that he needed. There must have been someone living down there. It was clear that they were not planning to leave soon either. Christopher was thinking of this when something else happened.

In Hiding

He found a brick hideaway in there! It was not a comforting sight at all. Why would anyone need such a thing in a hidden door inside a mine? Someone must have been hiding something big. He was filled with curiosity as he went to the hole. There was nothing there, but his eyes landed on something on the walls of the structure as he turned around to get away from it.

A Brick Hideout

With the help of his flashlight, he lit the bricks up and found white scratches etched on the walls. It was only after coming closer that Christopher figured out what they were. The wall had 4 vertical lines on them. Without a doubt, this was all very strange!

Nightmarish

He brought his hand up to the scratches to find out more about them. Since the etches were not deep enough to affect the cement, he could tell they were made with fingers. But who was in there waiting for escape? Soon after this, a terrifying thing would take him out of his thoughts once more! What now?

Writing On The Wall

There were more scratches on the other wall, but they were not only lines now. There was a message that had to be deciphered. He documented it by taking out his camera and taking a photo of it. Maybe he could take a closer look at it with the help of his computer when he returned home later that day.

Chills Went Through His Body

Suddenly, he heard a loud ruckus. A chill also went through him. He knew that someone else was down there with him. He pointed the flashlight at where the sound probably came from. Nothing was there. He flicked the flashlight to the writing on the wall but felt a cold breeze and heard the sound of metal!

He Sprinted

It felt like he took a cold shower because every last bit of warmth in his body was gone. At the start, he thought that it was coming from behind him. It then shifted to the front before it felt like it was coming from every single direction! The sound was getting closer, louder, and more frantic. Christopher ran!

Running For His Life

He could feel shivers down his spine and ice in his blood as he tried to escape. Christopher knew that something sinister was happening down there. His mind told him to remain calm and stay still, but his body took him outside of the mine. As soon as he escaped, he grabbed his chest and fell to the ground.

So Right, It Was Wrong

Christopher should have known that it seemed too good to be true. After all, why would a gold mine like this be untouched for such a long time? He tried to regain his composure and started the trek home.

Like A Madman

The entire area felt so still that the air seemed to absorb the sound of his steps. The trees were not rustling either. It was like they were matching the tension of the situation. Christopher was running like his life depended on it. He was desperate to get to the bottom of things.

When he got to his house, he immediately went to the study and locked himself there. Something weird was going on down there, and he wanted to know what it was. The internet was his best friend for this.

He looked up ‘haunted mines’ and felt goosebumps when the results loaded. Christopher could tell that the thing in the mine has followed him back to his house. Could it be his imagination and nothing else?

He whipped around and started to hear whispers all around him. Could he be going crazy? The moment he turned back, all the noise stopped. The air was freezing, and he could only hear his heavy breathing.

The first result? “If you want to get rid of the paranormal activity in the mine and subsequently, in your life, you have to face it.” But could he actually accomplish such a thing? Was this going to make it all stop? It was the only thing he could do now.

He was surprised to hear three knocks. There was a lump in his throat. He swallowed his fear and asked, “Hello?” Christopher went to the door of the room and turned the handle. What was going to happen?

He headed to the kitchen but stopped after hearing a whirring sound. The noise came from his camera. Why on earth was it making such a noise? The gadget was off. It would start to get even weirder.

Christopher picked it up but was surprised to find it open. He knew he turned it off as soon as he reached the house. He went through the photos he took earlier, but something odd started to happen.

The Card Was Wiped

There was nothing on the card in the camera. Yes, it got wiped for some reason! With his camera in hand, he headed straight for the mine. Whatever it was, he has had enough. It was time to face it.

Foolish Courage

Christopher had to gather every ounce of courage in him as he made his way back to the mine. He was, once more, met with darkness. He knew he made a mistake as his eyes adjusted. Why was he there?!

Pitch Black Tunnel

The tunnel seemed even darker than the first two times he explored the area. He was able to convince himself that the flashlight was just not working well. Christopher continued to retreat down the mine.

Cool Air

He crossed the puddles of water and only halted after feeling cold air once more. This time, it was coming at him so hard that it felt like a basketball thrown at him. He could feel the cold to his bones.

The Noise Was Back

On top of that, he could hear the metal noises again. He could not believe that this was happening. He had no other choice but to keep going forward. We are sure he did not know why this was a mistake.

Terrible Noise

He made his way down the dark corridor but stopped all of a sudden. The noise was there again, but it was closer this time. His ears began to ring so much he yelped in pain. Still, he could not back out now.

To him, the noise sounded like a bunch of metals clinking together. He covered his head with his hands for some time. As soon as it appeared, the sound stopped. He looked up as soon as the noise was gone. However, the silence made him even more scared than the sound did. That was when he saw it.

The chains coming down from the ceiling started to swing, almost like it was dancing. He could not help but stare in awe and terror at what he was seeing. It took him a while to notice the sound of water!

After his eyes adjusted, he realized that a flood of water was coming for his direction. It looked like a tsunami! “I must be going crazy!” he said to himself when the swooshing water sound got even closer.

He could feel a headache setting in. All the cells in his body had been screaming as he tried to make his way to the mine entrance. What was next for him? Maybe he could not handle the thing in the mine…

He made his way out of there and into the light. Christopher looked behind his shoulder and felt puzzled when he saw that there was not a single trace of water. He only saw the footsteps that he himself left.

He started walking back to his house once more. It was time for him to get some help. That was the only way he could solve the mystery. He knew he would be unable to stand being in the dark about it.

Who Was There?

Christopher weaved through the woods but stopped when he noticed the light coming from his kitchen. Was it possible that he left them on? He was pretty certain that he did not do that. Who was in there?

No One There

He walked through the entrance but saw that the house was empty and alone. No one else was in there, so he must have left it on himself. As he went about his business, he was still thinking about the mine.

“Did everything really happen?” he thought to himself as he went to the study to boot up his computer. What should he do next? Even though he was not one to believe in the supernatural, he could not come up with any other explanation for what he just went through.

Christopher felt tired, both in the physical and mental senses of the word. He was exhausted after the day he had. He cupped his face in his palms and then felt a tug. Something was pulling him by the feet!

He was so shocked that he stumbled backward and fell down. That was it! He had to get out of that place and seek help. Maybe a rational explanation existed for what he was going through. He hopped into his car and drove to a café close to his house.

He bought a double espresso and used his phone to browse the net. He looked up, “Best paranologist near me.” It came as both a surprise and relief to find two different options nearby. Once more, he got inside his car and followed Google Maps to one of the two places.

Sleepless Nights

The storefront came with a sign that said, “TAROT readings.” A wave of relief then hit him. Even though he was still in shock, he knew that he had to go through this. After all, he wanted to sleep well at night.

When he entered the store, the entrance door played a song. The strong smell of incense also hit him square in the face. He found a woman in red and purple, who then turned to him and took his hand. She started to chant some tune that seemed familiar to Christopher. He felt very drawn to the song and realized that it was the exact same sound he heard in the mine. Even if it was a more melodic sound, it was enough for Christopher to snap out of it and return to his vehicle right away.

He decided to go to his mom’s house after this and then put his property up for sale. The developers interested in it tried to get in touch with him, but he never called them back. When they let go of the dog and let him go to the water, he saw something important. He began to sniff all over the area and then moved closer to the mysterious object. Everyone felt hopeful that he was onto something important. It was no secret that dogs like to make a huge scene over relevant things!

The dog was able to give them an idea that this was an important find. This was when the cops called in the true experts for help. At their behest, two archaeologists dropped by. To these folks, it was crucial to carry out a real scientific investigation. Among other things, they would have to bring this object to the lab!
