A Mother Sees A Strange Silhouette On The Camera After Her Baby Woke Up With Scratches

This mother from Michigan was determined to find out what exactly was happening in their house as a lot of peculiar occurrences started to happen. It started with various noises that could be heard throughout the night, but that was not the only thing that almost made her go crazy. At first, she accused her husband of causing these strange occurrences, but he denied everything she accused him of. What exactly was happening in their house for the mother to almost going crazy? Was it really something so out of this world, which is why she was terrified? Let us find out.

The Video From The Monitor

She was mad, the only thing she knew that could give her answers was the camera footage that she has, but she was not prepared for what she was about to see. The couple installed a baby monitor to record what was going on in their daughter’s room as she couldn’t accept that her baby scratched herself while sleeping. However, the father named Joshua mentioned that he had no idea about what was going on when he was confronted about it.

Scratches On Her Face

As she prepared to look at the recording, she was also ready to find her husband in the video, hoping that her suspicions about him were right all along. However, she was caught in a surprise after finding out that it was not actually her husband, who was doing all the unnerving kinds of stuff! The story goes like this. Heather Brough and Joshua Higgins lived in a Michigan guesthouse owned by Joshua’s mother.

Everything Changed

Their daughter of the age of 1 is named Lily, and this family lived in this guesthouse for more than a year. Something recently happened that made them desperately want to move somewhere else. The situation blew up once Heather took lily out of the crib one morning and noticed scratches on the baby’s face.

Things Began To Get Tense

Heather didn’t really think much about it at the start. Nevertheless, as more markings began to pop up on Lily’s face after the original ones were handled, her mind shifted. All that was left to do now was talk about it to Josh. They had a great relationship and lived together happily.

The young couple lived in a peaceful city. It all seemed to be going their way, and the dreams of Joshua and Heather seemed to have become a reality, and their dreams had come true, and it all seemed to be going well for Joshua and Heather. The couple were so happy and had an adorable baby girl together. Out of the blue, though, things changed …

Getting Answers

Heather was woken up in the middle of the night by the odd sounds in the house. It sounded similar to a squeaking door, pounding on the floor, or even kitchen footsteps. It was completely bizarre! After she had discovered weird scratches on her baby girl’s face the very next morning, she was determined to solve the mystery.

Finding Out The Truth

In the morning, Heather spoke to her husband and asked if he was the one who had caused all the commotion during the night. She asked him if he had gone to Lily’s room, too, because obviously, she wanted to know if he knew what had happened to Lily’s face. Could this be the end of their fairytale love story, maybe?

A Figure

Between Joshua and Heather, things were beginning to feel tiring. Joshua denied everything, and Heather was adamant that she would catch him in the act. She was unsure as to what, during her search, she would end up finding. The only thing on her mind was that she needed answers to this dilemma to be found.

Over and over again, Joshua denied everything. Then Heather began to realize that she really was the crazy one, and she probably imagined it all. Then she began to come up with ideas about what was in the house. Perhaps an animal that she had found made it into the house. Nevertheless, before heading off to bed, she was sure she always closed the windows and doors.

Spine-Chilling Realization

Maybe someone or something was already in the house, lurking and preying on their kid. She needed to find the answers to all of the questions that were going on in her mind, or else their marriage might be over. They later bought a baby monitor so that they would be able to keep an eye on their baby.

Need To Get Out

They made sure they put it at the perfect angle, precisely focused on her crib. Joshua was certain that her daughter was scratching herself in her sleep and said that babies often scratch their nails on their faces. After the first incident, Heather made sure to trim Lily’s nails — so Joshua’s theory proved wrong.

The Truth Revealed

Heather wanted to know the truth badly, however, and she wasn’t quite ready for what she was about to see. The couple bought the most tech-savvy baby monitor that came with night vision, the Logitech Circle 2. They were really hoping that it would help them put together all the pieces.

Calling The Authorities

Needless to say, they found more scratches on their daughter’s face the next morning. To figure out what happened, they scanned the footage. After watching the video, Heather now understood that their house was not what she thought it was when they moved in.

Getting The House Investigated

In their daughter’s bedroom, a vague figure of a man was seen. Heather was surprised, and maybe her original theory was right. Joshua was definitely walking at night around the house while she slept! But why was he lying about what the big secret was?

Other Strange Occurrences

Has this been a prank? Perhaps he’d been sleepwalking. She was determined to keep watching so that this mystery could be solved. What happened next baffled her the most … this blurry figure passed through the crib of her baby. Surely, since she sat upright, Lily was conscious of someone being in her room!

Strange Sounds

What was Lily going to do next? She pulled herself up into a standing position, held the side of her crib, and then pushed around with gas. The man turned towards the monitor at this point. Heather realized from this second that the man was not who she thought it was.

Set To Return

As her heart was pounding loudly, Heather was hyperventilating. She came to realize that a stranger was actually in their house, and he was hanging around Lily’s bedroom. As she observed the trespasser closely, her eyes were glued to the screen.

Previous Residents

The intruder kept on wandering around the room. Heather was feeling so anxious. She just wanted to know who this man was at this point. How did she really feel that she understood where the bizarre sounds came from? But she was always curious about the bruises on the face of her daughter-it didn’t make sense!

A Dark Past

She kept playing the clip for quite a while. The individual was completely transparent at one particular moment, but only when moved by Lily. And when she understood that, she got goosebumps right away. Heather was definitely not looking at a man nor a human being.

She was ready to talk about it to Joshua. They needed to get out of the house, above all-and quickly. “He watched the video and said, “It was chilling… It was literally a chill down your spine, like that ‘what if’ factor — Is this what I just saw?” Heather explained, “Seeing Lily’s face with the scratches was so odd  and frightening.”

“I was crying, ‘What happened to you?’ I grabbed her jacket and ran over to my mother-in-law’s house. Nobody knew what happened. We really thought she had scratched herself, but when we placed her hands up to the scratches, it didn’t make any sense.” Said Heather during an interview.

An Observation

Joshua was also petrified after seeing the video together once again. He could feel that his belly was full of knots. The householder was terrified of being in his own home and wanted to move immediately. He immediately got in contact with the police, and then all of them waited outside for them.

A Plausible Explanation

Joshua was advised to reach out to The Scientific Paranormal Studies of Michigan. But what he learned from them terrified even more. In fact, he was scared to death! Mike Priest, the co-owner of Michigan’s Scientific Paranormal Investigations, sent a team to Joshua’s house to investigate and find out what was happening there.

A Possibility

What they discovered only made the couple want to evacuate from the premises as soon as they could. When they looked at the evidence, they concluded that the house was haunted by the ghost of the person who was living there before them.

The Motivation

It did not end there, though! Heather said during an interview, “I woke up to get ready for work one morning, and it felt like someone was choking me.” She went on, “It shook me to the point where I decided to buy our camera.”

Heather was so sure that her husband would think she was making things up, so she decided not to tell him about it immediately. She screamed, “There were moments when I would wake up in the morning with my fiancé, and I would hear an angry male voice like someone had stubbed their toe.”

Waiting For A Response

“I certainly believe that something is going on at this building,” Mike Priest said. We are looking forward to checking this one out as well. “He and the team reported strange sounds in the building, according to him.” Upon the request of the family, they visited the house.

Hearing Something

Mike went on to say, “We heard something say, ‘Oh, here we go. Oh yeah.’ I heard it as plain as day.” Mike sent a team to Joshua’s house, and they are bound to return soon. They wanted to do a deep investigation of the paranormal happenings that were happening on the property.

Logical Explanation

Mike said they intended to see whether they could find a way to replicate the footage or come up with a plausible explanation, at least. They could only infer that it was a supernatural entity of some kind. But still, he’s fixed on figuring out exactly what the camera in the baby’s room was capturing.

Homeowner

Joshua’s mother, Kris, has been the homeowner for more than 11 years now. She must have had an idea of what would haunt them. “I was told when we bought the houses 11 years ago the lady who owned the property died in the main house,” she explained.

Old Farmhouse

Joshua’s mother continued, “It’s an old farmhouse, and according to her niece… she fell down the stairs, broke her hips and laid there for a very long time before she passed away. She said that the guesthouse was built for the lady’s brother who was schizophrenic,”

Another Theory

Joshua’s dad, Jim, had another assumption. He was certain that the man terrorizing his son and daughter-in-law was an old tenant of the guesthouse. This was what he said to WXYZ-TV Detroit: “The gentleman that lived here originally… (jumped) out this window, which is one story down.”

No Closer

The couple still had no clue who was in their daughter’s room, regardless of everyone’s ideas. Heather said, “It scares us that it could do something else, it’s not physically just going after her, it feels like it’s going after us too. This has forced us to want to leave as soon as possible. The sooner, the better we’re out of here. This is a spirit! I don’t know what its goal is, but at this point, it’s becoming physically harmful.”

The couple also decided to publish the video on social media; of course, it went viral and scared many internet users. However, there were still skeptics because many people didn’t think the video revealed any form of a spirit. “There’s something else I noticed right away – the ghost was casting a shadow, two actually. To me, this means that the figure is a solid, physical object able to reflect light. In the first milliseconds of the video, as the figure is moving to the left, you can see its shadow move across the ceiling right by the ceiling fan.” Said Kenny Biddle of Skeptical Inquirer.

“I would suppose either (Heather) and/or (Joshua) had been watching television and had reason to get up out of bed, maybe go down to the kitchen for a drink/food or a visit to the bathroom, paused the video and walked across the room not realizing they were being recorded.” Kenny Biddle added to the previous statement.

“At a later, unknown time, they reviewed the footage and, due to a lack of knowledge about video cameras, concluded the distorted figure was a ghost,” Said Kenny. But where did the scratches on Lily’s face come from? “Regardless of the technical issues, it is widespread for babies to scratch themselves.

“We know from her statements that (Heather) saw the scratches after waking the baby up from a nap, but there’s nothing to rule out the possibility Lily scratched herself while sleeping,” Kenny said after observing the video footage. Kenny found a fascinating piece of information after doing more research about this story.

“I’m not sure exactly what the motivation behind these claims is, but I do have my suspicions. I went to Heather Brough’s Facebook page earlier today and noticed that she posted her first public post since November of 2018; it was a link to a GoFundMe account she had created that day (March 26, 2019) with a goal of $5,000.” Kenny shared.

Moving Out

Kenny added, “She was requesting this amount to assist her family move out of the guest house, claiming that her daughter’s safety was at risk due to all the paranormal activity going on in their home. It was the main reason for the fundraising,” Kenny reached out to Heather through Facebook after this.

Reaching Out

Kenny sent to Heather on Facebook, “Hello, my name is Kenny Biddle, and I’ve been investigating paranormal claims for the last 20+ years. Your posted video of what is believed to be a ghost walking in your house was brought to my attention by several paranormal groups”.

Wondering

Kenny also added, “After taking a look at it, I was wondering whether there was a longer clip – possibly footage showing the few minutes leading up to (and including) the clip that was shared on ABC Action News. The clip that has been shared begins with the figure already in motion, and I was hoping to see where it originates,”

Looking For Confirmation

Kenny ended his message by saying, “I noticed the TV was on, so being able to confirm it wasn’t someone (living) watching TV and possibly got up to get something, would be realistic. I’m not saying this was a scam, I’m just trying to get as much information as possible to understand what the video is showing. I appreciate your time in reading this. I hope to hear back from you. Have a good day.” Kenny has said that Heather has yet to respond to his inquiry.

On an interview that the mother did with the local news, she admitted, “I even tried creeping in there with a flashlight while my son was sleeping.”

The scared mother couldn’t help but think about what she found in her son’s room. It could have really been a ghost! This is why she wanted the occurrence to be recorded. She shared an image of what could be seen on the baby monitor online. Her post had a caption that said, “So last night I was positive there was a ghost baby in the bed with my son. I was so freaked out, I barely slept.”
