A year after learning that she was expecting a child, she decided to clear out the house and hold a yard sale. While going through her things, her eyes landed on the crib at the corner of the room. Chills ran down her spine at the sight of it. She instantly knew that she needed to sell it. In a couple of minutes, she already had a photo of it online for an advertisement. However, there was a terrible detail about the piece of furniture that she chose not to mention.

Across town, there was an elderly carpenter by the name of Gerald Kumpula. He and Lorene, his wife, had a pregnant granddaughter, so they thought it would be the perfect gift. Based on the photo, it looked like it was a sturdy crib of good quality. They also liked that it was quite cheap. Gerald had no reason to think that anything was wrong with it.
