While most soon-to-be brides and grooms prefer to take the more traditional path when it comes to planning their wedding and choosing their attire, there are other people who like to go for a more unconventional or funky route. After all, it is their ‘big day’, so the decision truly lies in their hands- whether we think it looks good or not. Making a huge statement and completely being the center of attention is exactly what these couples were going for. To say the least, their clothing selection was very…unique. Check out these unusual wedding looks that should definitely never be repeated again.
Cut For Comfort
Future brides, when it comes to deciding on a wedding dress for the big day, comfort is key. However, we think the woman took that piece of advice a bit too far. Especially since she was very heavily pregnant at the time, she wanted to feel her absolute best and did not want anything tight around her belly. Or perhaps she was making her pregnancy announcement on the day of her wedding…we may never know. But we do definitely admire her courage and no-care attitude.
Suds For Days
The fashion designer that created this dress was definitely inspired by some kind of good smell. So it seems she decided to design a dress covered in soap bars. Well, this is kind of different. We really wonder if this dress caught on and was ever worn by a bride? We really hope not as this one would definitely top the embarrassing list!
We can only imagine how badly to want to hear the explanation behind this dress. But before we get into that, our question is, how could any woman possibly think this sort of dress looks good? Surely she didn’t quite think the whole thing through…its not like shes even going to be able to sit down on her wedding day. Not to mention coming into close contact with a sharp object. It would all totally make sense if her husband is a professional clown.
Traditionally, white, beige, or cream dresses are the most common options for brides and their wedding gowns. However it isn’t that unheard of for women to pick a different color- after all, there are no rules. This definitely applied to this future bride, as she opted for an all-black ensemble, something with a more gothic feel. But that’s not all she finished it off with quite a fancy lace veil and train.
From Rags To Rags
Whoa, what a snapshot! It definitely makes the couple look like they’ve had too much to drink and are about to collapse. But, that’s is not the peculiar part of it. Firstly, the groom looks like he suddenly realized what exactly he’s about to get himself into and the bride looks like she put her dress together with rags from family and friends. We get she may have been going for more of a Bohemian look, but this one is a definite no-no!
The Frillier The Better
When recently engaged women head out in search of their perfect dress, they don’t always consider what looks good on them or suits their body. Deciding on the style you want is important, whether its fit or flair. It seems that this lady clearly wanted the flair look and something that would stand out. Not only did she nail the fishtail look but she turned out to be some underwater bride.
Hips Don’t Lie
The wedding gown was certainly made to accentuate the hips…and not in a good way! While most women tend to go for a dress that does not make the hips stand out, this woman really wanted to do the opposite. But by the look on her face, we actually not sure if she is happy with her choice. All we can say is…hips don’t lie!
Orange Camouflage For The Outdoors
It seems as if Mama June is all smiles on her big day. Most people would never even imagine wearing something like this, but it really seems like she is loving her unique dress. This is for sure one of the more daring and uncommon bridal gowns we have ever seen. However, if you’re planning an outdoor, summer wedding, and wanting to wear a colorful dress, we highly recommend you go for something totally different from this.
Gown Out Of Hair
By this point down the list, you may have figured that there are so many women out there who abandon the traditional white wedding gown and rather go for something more special. With that all being said, we definitely think this gown is quite hair raising! No one will ever forget this unique look, but we do hope this dress was never worn again.
Gangster Groom And Bride
Who would’ve thought that true gangsters would be so romantic and want to fall in love? Well, if you didn’t know…now you do! This couple obviously wanted to make their wedding ceremony as unusual as possible, and they successes very well! Not only did they spray paint their wedding attire but it also gave them the chance to collaborate their street style with tradition.
This wedding gown is really quite futuristic looking and something very much inspired by a Russian doll, don’t you agree? This garment is from 1965, which is quite spectacular. We can only imagine how long it must have taken to put together, but we do certainly hope this kind of fashion doesn’t reappear in our day and age.
The Everything Bride
Looking for a dress that has a lot going on? This is the one for you! With ruffles in the shower cap, a lampshade dripping over the shoulder, and mounds of tissue paper to make up the bottom, this is really some out of the box thinking. Just like you, we wonder what was going through the minds of the designers, but we for certain are not huge fans of this style.
For The Children
Its no surprise that each person has their own sense of style, and when it comes to wedding dresses it seems as if anything goes. If you’re getting married and have children of your own, its only natural that you would want them to be a major part of your big day. Which exactly what this mom had in mind…she added her own personal touches onto her wedding dress. As happy as the children looked that their newly married mom had chosen diapers, her guests were utterly shocked.
Too Lit To Get Married
It seems more than likely that women these days tend to be steering away from traditional, white wedding dresses. This young bride was one of them, although she still decided to have part of her dress white, she wanted something way different at the bottom. So she completely jazzed things up by adding flames to the gown. At least she thought she looked hot!
Ferrero And Ever
We highly doubt that there is a person on the planet who will say that Ferrero Rocher tastes bad. And if so, this woman will certainly come after you if you say anything bad about her favorite chocolate. In fact, she apparently loves Ferrero Rocher so much that she decided to make it a huge part of her nuptials. We do hope, it was not a hot summer day and that her whole dressed melted down the aisle.
At first we when took a look at these pictures, we were completely flabbergasted. What woman would want to wear this kind of dress on her wedding day? Isn’t it quite bizarre? This really looks like something designed for Halloween or for a kids dress up party. The swing and colors are great, but seriously not for a wedding!
Another one for a great Halloween costume! We certainly didn’t think this was a bridal gown, but alas we were so wrong. As much as we don’t think this is suitable for a wedding, this woman thought differently. Whether those are tentacles or octopus limbs, they really do look quite lifelike which may be even scarier than the dress itself.
A Bit Much
Wow, this is really something unbelievable. This bride certainly got what she wanted, besides stealing the show, her dream of having the longest train came true. Some of her guests were even able to hold on while she said her vows. She really looks happy, which is all that counts when getting married.
Talk About A Throwback
The 90s is often considered as the best period in history, whether its the fashion, the music, or the movies. And these ladies couldn’t agree more, which is one this bride decided on a dress that was completely out of this world. This wedding was nothing like anyone has ever seen before, especially with all the fur and sparkles. We are so glad her bridesmaids were on board with her idea.
Not That Kind Of Cat Woman
Although this dress is completely different from anything traditional, believe it or not, but we actually kind of like. It may not be suitable for everyone but this bride really pulled it off. Without a doubt, the guests were very puzzled by her choice. Howeev, she looked so happy and full of life, and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.
Just Like A Fairytale
Nearly every girl’s dream is to have a wedding that represents something just like a fairytale. But as they get older, their perception of how they want their big day to look like may very well change. Well, not this bride, it seemed as though she had this all planned out since she was in elementary school. With her big poofy dress, angel wings, and her Prince Charming right beside her, she could not be any more content with life.
A Dress Worth $235,000
When it comes to wedding dress shopping, there are girls who try to be reasonable and shop within the budget and then there are others where money is no problem. These two adorable lovebirds are parts of the latter. At just 19 years old, Evka wanted everything her way and nothing was going to stop her. She wore the most lavish gown that made headlines all over the world. With the gold and & diamonds encrusted in this dress, we can totally see why.
White Is Out
By now we’ve seen some totally out of the ordinary ideas and dresses. I think we can all agree that anything goes these days. And another wedding trend appears to be a splash of color or two here and there. Depending on how much you wanna spice things up, things can get pretty wild quite quickly. But that doesn’t mean who shouldn’t let your creative juices flow. Look at this lovely lady, her frills and rhinestones made her the happiest girl in the world.
Shrek And Fiona In Real Life
We cant argue here, this is definitely one of the more adorable ideas we’ve seen so far and completely out of the ordinary. Everyone loves Shrek and Fiona, but this real-life version is definitely something else. Regardless the two look so happy and in love as they walk through the grassy field to say their nuptials and tie the knot.
Cacti And Wedding Gowns
It seems as though, the bigger the better is the full on-trend right now. And this woman proved there were no limits when it comes to your wedding dress. We’re not exactly sure if shes a plant or a flower enthusiast, either way, her outfit is for sure one of a kind and perhaps somewhat embarrassing. But who cares what we think, she looks overjoyed.
Throwing Out Tradition
We kind of have no words for this extremely innovative wedding outfit. This couple went for somthing that is nothing close to traditional, we think the rainbow accents are what definitely made the piece. We certainly respect them for having the courage to wear such a thing, but perhaps this is exactly what their personality is like. All in all, they for sure made a bold statement.
A Shotgun Wedding
Shotgun weddings are becoming more and more popular as the years go by. But this gives a whole new meaning to a ‘shotgun wedding’. Firstly, the bride doesn’t look so ecstatic like the rest of the women on our list. We just hope that this was a bad picture. Secondly, we sure don’t like the way her father is gripping that shotgun behind her. But each to their own, folks!
Punk Rock Proposal
Another punk rock couple that topped our list. It seems as though this lifestyle chose them, meaning their wedding would be anything but conventional. The groom looked somewhat regular, but the bride on the other hand looked quite odd. Whether they were happy, we’re not sure. Whether their guests were shocked we’re also not sure. But we are certain the priest was appalled after seeing those horns.
Piece Of Cake
This woman took being a practical bride to a whole new level. It seems as though she really wanted to kill two birds with one stone and make life so much easier for her guests. And what better way than to wear an edible cake? At first, her idea looks great but was it really…we hope so!
We all know just how fabulous Christmas is and everyone loves to be part of the celebrations. But this woman really went all out with her favorite holiday. And she was so keen to let the world know that she made sure her wedding dress represented a Christmas tree. So if you’re having a wedding around the Christmas holidays, maybe you want to consider this type of dress as well?
Getting Buzzed With The Bride
Here we have another bride who decided that she really wanted her guests to enjoy her wedding. Or maybe she wanted them to constantly keep coming up to her, you know how brides are with wanting all the attention on them? So why not create an interesting dress that can hold champagne glasses as well? She looks pleased so cheers to her!
Perhaps it was more of a thing a few decades go, but gowns with ruffles and frills are not really stylish anymore. However, this woman didn’t seem to agree with this at all. She was so determined to have the biggest dress she could find. In this case, the more the merrier is not always a good option. Please ladies, everything in moderation, includes the tiaras you plan on wearing.
Her Inner Child
To be very honest, we are not entirely sure what kind of look she was actually going for. But either way, this wedding garment is completely unexpected and extremely different in every aspect. She really must be a true child at heart or perhaps she’s just a true Barbie doll fan.
A Walking Cupcake Tower
Perhaps this woman is the sister of the champagne rack bride? After all, both ladies had very similar ideas in mind and seem to be going with the ‘practical approach’ for their big day. One thing is for sure, this bride definitely cared about the yummy desserts. But we have to give it her, what a clever idea when trying to save money!
Generally speaking, the bride and groom coordinate their looks for the nuptial evening. And most often it goes for the bridal party as well, which might even include some beloved pets. However, this one is definitely a first for us…a bride and a sheep twinning! As they say, “whatever floats your boat, honey”. Of course, this seems totally bizarre and so unorthodox.
A Little Help From My Friends
A lot of people nowadays have huge bridal parties, both from the bride and groom’s side. Whether they truly have many friends that they want to be included in their big day or its just a status thing, we may never know! But what we do know is that can get quite costly for everyone involved as matching gowns and tuxedos are a must, especially if there is a specific them like the one below.
Pretty In Pink
We’ve said this many times before and we’ll say it again…weddings do not have always have to be traditional with a black and white color scheme! And this Pink Lady is a very firm believer in that concept. Regardless, there is truly so much going on with this dress, from the fishtail train, to the lace and giant headdress that is basically covering up her face.
Casual But Classy
When it comes to a wedding, we can all agree that it should really be quite class, at least the ceremony. However, these two lovebirds clearly had some other idea and opted for more of a suggestively inappropriate theme. The groom certainly wanted his bike persona to be shown while the bride went for something ‘casual’. Talk about an interesting combo.
Disposable Artsy Wedding Attire
Wow! People tend to get so creative when it comes to their wedding. We’ve already seen people paying tribute to their favorite food or holiday and seems like this bride is following suit. Excuse the pun! We have to give it to them for their outstanding artsy imagination. Totally different and completely fascinating…to say the least.
Getting Hitched With A Landlubber
We have so many questions, yet so few answers. Firstly, we’re guessing this is a pirate-themed wedding, that was done in great detail. So kudos to them for their creativity. But to be very honest, this looks more like a picture from the ‘best dressed Halloween couple of 2019’. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but they look quite happy so that’s all that counts!
Gown In The Dark
If you’re asking for our opinion, many of the wedding dresses on this list didn’t quite get the appreciation they deserve. Take a look at this one, for example. The concept is brilliant, the pattern on the dress…not so much! Perhaps she should have gone for something more glamorous but the glow in the dark is totally rad.
Pink Frills For Ages
Here’s another one where the bride wanted ‘the bigger the better’. But unfortunately, she looks so much like one of the evil stepsisters out of a Disney movie. No matter how badly she wanted to look like a stunning princess, sadly she didn’t quite succeed. Not to mention, the poor groom who looks like he desperately suffering.
Blue Is In
Traditionally, brides have to wear something new, borrowed, and blue on their wedding day. This bride was perfectly able to get include them all in just one dress. Or is that two dresses, we can’t exactly work it out. To complete her very unique look, she had a few blue extensions to match the dress. Definitely give her A for effort.
Holy Smokes! Where do we even begin to explain this one? This woman is really courageous with her fashion choices and certainly wanted to makes some kind of bold statement. Not many brides would be willing to take this risk. Even though this is by far a regular wedding gown, at least she made sure it was white.
Yikes! This puts a whole new meaning on romantic and sensual. We truly pray that this bride’s wedding was not during the cold, winter months. The more we look at the dress, the more we realize she was set to tie the knot in some tropical region with tons of mosquitos. Another bride who wants to be practical and effective. We wouldn’t exactly classify this as stylish on fashionable and definitely hope she doesn’t regret her choice.
Attire In Aluminum
If we really stretch our imaginations, we could probably classify silver along similar lines to white. So could we categorize her dress as conventional…probably not? This woman’s aluminum dress with the added rhinestones is definitely a striking one but kind of bizarre at the same time. You do you, lady!
Chocolate Wedding Dress
International Chocolate Day is an annual celebration that takes place in July. In 2008, Ian Stuart Brides worked on a magical project for an event. Their designers needed to create an edible chocolate dress! Without a doubt this looks like an incredible masterpiece, we just hope the model got a chance to taste test it before it melted.
Another fancy blue dress that made our list. Except this one is completely different from the last and looks much more glamourous. Whatever idea the bride is going for it seems as if the world can create it. In all honesty, we kind of like this wedding gown, the blue is a stunning hue, and rhinestones really add to it. As for the veil…well that’s a bit much!
Urban Graffiti Dress
This delightful young bride really wanted to make a big, bold statement on her wedding day. Her actual wedding dress is quite cute but the urban graffiti really adds a unique element to it. What’s even more awesome is that she added both the first letter of her name and her husband’s name to the design. Cool, right?
